Is eVisa easy to get? ›

Applying for an eVisa is quicker and easier than applying for a traditional visa. And in most cases, you don't ever need to print anything off, including the eVisa before you travel.

e-VISA. In order to check status of your application or continue unfinished application, please enter your application reference number in the relevant box. If you do not know this number, you can find it in the e-mail message that we sent to you. It is 8-symbol alphanumeric code.

Most visa rejections happen because the applicants submit incomplete or incorrect travel details. You must provide the following information to the immigration department to avoid any issues: The list of countries you are planning to visit. The timings and the duration of the trip.

The Indian government application portal specifies a processing time of up to 72 hours. In our experience, most responses are received between 2-3 days after being submitted to the government, but this can vary. The review time and decision of an application are decided entirely by the government.

How long is the processing time? When should I apply for e-Visa? Usually 3-10 working days, depending on the completeness of documents, type of visa, and nationality of the applicants. Please apply for e-Visa at least a month (but no longer than 3 months) before travelling.

It is advised that the correct website for E-visa is indianvisaonline.gov.in. Applicants are requested not to apply on any other website for E-visa services. The e-visa facility is in addition to the existing Regular Visa services being provided through Indian Consulate.

Each and every section of the visa application form should be filled up. You should provide correct information and not leave any section blank. All sections have instructions about what to do in case it does not apply to you. If you do not provide all the correct information, then it can be a visa refusal reason.

Applying for a tourist e-Visa is fairly straightforward

To apply for an Indian e-Visa, visit the government's official e-Visa portal. You'll need to upload a digital passport-style photo and copies of your passport ID pages, and pay the visa fee, which varies depending on your nationality.
