She is survived by her loving daughters, Roberta (Floyd) Andrew of Spokane, Faye (Jim) Atwood of Kirkland, four grandchildren Michael, Sheryl, James, Tyrone; and seven great-grandchildren, Hannah, Kyle, Grace, Ally, Sasha, Emily, and Jared. Joyce graduated from Dickinson State Teachers College and Eastern Washington College. She taught students in Dodge and in Spokane and was a school librarian until she retired from Spokane Public Schools. She was also a 50 year honoree in PEO and a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, February 10th at Fairmount Memorial Park with a Memorial Service to follow at at Riverview Care Center, 1841 E.

Edgar and Hazel Sarver on August 11, 1918 in their home at Mockonema, WA. She was their only daughter, she had six brothers. She graduated from Colfax High in 1936 and attended Kinman Business School in Spokane. As WWII started, she was working for the County Draft Board in Colfax. In 1943 she joined the WAVES and underwent training at Hunter College in New York City and Stillwater, OK.

She was stationed in Seattle, it was the adventure of a lifetime and she was very proud of her service. Following the war, she returned to Colfax and went to work in the Whitman County Engineers office. While working there she met her future husband, Taft Hergert. They were married on April 9, 1948 in the parsonage of Trinity Lutheran Church in Endicott. A few years later they moved to Endicott where they would raise their family of two boys, Phillip and John and one girl, Laureen.

Ruth worked as the Endicott City Treasurer and for the WA St Department of Social and Health Services in Colfax. She retired in 1980. Eventually they would move to Spokane. In 1996 they would move to Riverview Lutheran Retirement Community in Spokane where they would live the rest of their lives. Her husband Taft died in 1997.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Endicott and Christ Lutheran Church (now Advent Lutheran) in Spokane Valley. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Taft and five brothers, Howard, DeLance, Harold, Stanley, and Paul. She is survived by her sons, Phillip Hergert (Debi) of Colfax, WA, John Hergert (Mary Kaye) of Pasco, WA, her daughter Laureen King (Rob) of Aloha, OR, and her four grandchildren, Andrea Hergert, Joshua Hergert, Samuel King and Kyle Hergert, her brother, Lawrence of Colfax, and several sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. She was loved by all and will be missed by her family and her many friends. There will be a celebration of her life at Riverview Lutheran Retirement Community on February 13 at 10:00 AM.

It will be followed by a graveside service at the Endicott Cemetery, in Endicott, WA at 3:00 PM, with a reception and light meal to follow at Trinity Lutheran Church. (Age 87) October 27, 1924 January 28, 2012 Went home to be with his family on January 28, 2012. Jack always put family first. He met his wife, Jeraldine, just before being deployed to Europe during WWII. He was proud to serve his country and on his return began raising a family. He had two daughters, Jackie and Joy.

He was preceded in death by his wife and daughters Jackie Bricker and Joy Peone. He is survived by three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and son-in- law Steve Peone. Jack was one of the nicest men known and he will be greatly missed by his surviving family. There will be a ceremony at the WA State Veterans Cemetery, the date has not been set yet due to and the weather. Call 509-326-6008 for any questions and of the date.

Jack will also be with his wife at Riverside Mausoleum. We are proud to have had the opportunity to know and love Jack. HIMEBAUGH, Donovan A. Born December 15, 1919 Hartville, OH. Passed away February 4, 2012 at his home in Liberty Lake, WA.

His wife of 66 years, Dorothy, was by his side. Don enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943 Ft. Hayes, Ohio and was assigned to the 464th Bombardment Group 779th Squadron in Italy where he numerous missions aboard a B-24 during the WW II European Theater. Don was deeply affected by this time and never hesitated to share the honor he felt for those who knew the cost of service. He was predeceased by his son, Michael Himebaugh, a Vietnam Veteran.

In addition to his wife Dorothy, he is survived by his children and their spouses Denise and Richard Jamison, Diane and Casey Christian, David and Deborah Himebaugh, Douglas and Jean Himebaugh, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Guardian Angel Homes and Hospice of Spokane for their loving care and support. Military Funeral Honors Service will be held Monday, February 13th, Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Donovan was a life long faithful donor.

HURLBUT, Lucille Lucille was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 88 years ago to Earl and Emma Bailey. She joined the Lord and her beloved husband on February 5, 2012. Her dad was a for the Memphis morning newspaper. Her mom sang professionally on stage all over the country, but once married to dad, she did not work outside the home. mom died in 1950 and, in 1968 her dad married Gladys, who then became her step-mom.

Lucille was blessed with an absolutely gorgeous voice and started singing at an early age. She learned to play the piano, so that she could accompany herself. Her love and passion for music was born in these early years and remained a constant throughout her life. As a teenager, she performed in numerous professional productions of light opera directed by F. Hammerstein with the Memphis Open Air Theater.

Lucille was a gifted student with a vibrant mind and graduated as salutatorian of her high school class of thousands. She confronted life with both intellect and humor. job for Sears was handling mail-order complaints, ranging from tractor parts to live chickens. During the WWII, like many of the young patriotic women of the time, Lucille learned a job and repaired radios for Sears. Every weekend, Lucille played and sang with the boys at the USO since Memphis, Tennessee was a hub for training all military services.

Lucille met Sgt. Frank Hurlbut on a double date (with her cousin Margaret), while he was in training for veterinarian medicine. She instantly knew that she had met her partner. They were married in 1946 after Major Frank Hurlbut returned from his station in China and had resumed his job with Safeway. Lucille became a step-mother to daughter, Bonny.

Frank was handsome, charming, outgoing, and loved to spin a humorous Lucille loved hearing them with smiles and her quick laughter. She never failed to be his biggest fan and supporter. It was her miss-adventures that provided him with most of the material for his comical monologues. Frank was the innocent one in his tales and bore the brunt of all the hardships, as Lucille learned to cook, clean and be a new mother. Lucille and Frank had two daughters, Glenda Kay born in 1947, and Dorothy Ann (Dottie) born in 1948.

The first fourteen years of marriage, Lucille was pretty much a stay at home mom teaching piano lessons, all over the Pacific Northwest. One day, Frank surprised her with a new Hammond organ, which she quickly mastered. A new passion was born! Lucille then became an organ teacher at Whitman College and demonstrator for the Hammond Company. Her faith was her core strength throughout her life. She was always an active member in her local church, usually the Choir or organist.

She attended many churches during her lifetime, but most recently was the organist at Opportunity Baptist Church while retaining her membership at Spokane Valley United Methodist Church. In 1961, Lucille found her niche at the Colfax Grange Supply as a bookkeeper. Retiring 25 years later, she was the head of the Grange Supply accounting department having ushered in the age of computerization. Frank and Lucille then moved to Spokane, and soon mother, Gladys joined them. Lucille lost Frank in 1989 and Gladys in 1995.

daughter, Kay, and her two boys, Richard and Chris, came from Hemet, CA to live with her in 1991. Kay has been there for Lucille providing her with loving care, treasuring every moment. Lucille opened her heart to many throughout her life, including Joy Long, who now is an honorary member of the Hurlbut family. Lucille also offered a helping hand and loving guidance to many boys during troubled times. Including: Josh and Brad (friends from Hemet) and another lucky soul was Patrick, who, as a student with ITT Technical lost his residence and needed a home.

All of the neighborhood kids called Mom and I know that they each had a special place in her heart. Lucille had an amazing capacity of living unconditional love. Lucille is survived by daughters: Bonny Hurlbut, Glenda Kay Hurlbut, and Dottie Millsaps. Grandchildren: Mark Millsaps, Richard Hole, and Chris Hole. Great Grandchildren: Audrey Millsaps, Seth Millsaps, and Sophia Hole.

Also we wish to include with the family: Joy Long, Dan and Linda Hurlbut with special friends Linda Littleton. Grave side service will be Friday, at 1PM in the older section of Pines Cemetery. Jaecks (age 50) Entered into rest on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at her home in Worley, Idaho. Theresa was born September 10, 1961 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. She married Brian Jaecks in 1988 and they came to Worley in 1990. Theresa was an active member at the Worley Community Church and enjoyed working in the Awana program. She is survived by her husband, Brian Jaecks; sons: Brandon Jaecks and Michael (Heather) Jaecks; mother, Rose Amerson; seven brothers and three sisters.

Raymond was born July 2, 1932, in San Diego, CA, to Clyde and Florence (McPherson) Johnson. He was a loving husband, father, and friend, and he will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ellen (Gustafson) Johnson; son, Brian (Kitty) Johnson; daughter, Gayle (Randy) Russell, all of Spokane; son, Brad (Teri) Johnson of Tucson, AZ; son, Craig (Vicki) Johnson of Sandpoint, ID; ten grandchildren; and 18 great- grandchildren. MAIER, Laura Marie (Pixley) (Age 75) Laura Maier of Coeur was called home to her Savior on February 4, 2012, while she was surrounded by family. Laura was born on July 31, 1936 in Seattle, Washington and spent her youth in Spokane.

While nursing in Havre, MT, she met her husband Leonard. They raised their family in Great Falls and then Helena. She was a full-time mother for many years and then worked as a dental assistant. Laura then worked for the State of Montana for over 18 years, earning the distinction as one of the nicest tax collectors in the Department of Revenue. Laura spent her retirement years in Idaho helping raise three of her grandchildren.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and spending time with her family. Laura had a great passion for life and will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, spunky sense of humor, and most of all, her love for the Lord and for others. She was a humble woman and had a heart, always putting needs before her own. Laura had an encouraging word for everyone. 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7.

Laura is survived by her daughters Pam (Ron) Boggs of Helena, MT and Chris (Larry) Breazeal of Hayden, ID; grandchildren Grant Boggs, Tom, Nicole and Emily Breazeal; brothers Skip (Lenora) Pixley of MT Vernon, WA and Bill (Maria) Pixley of Nokomis, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Laura was preceded in death by her young daughter, Therese Maier, her husband, Leonard Maier, and her parents Laura and Morris Pixley. A Memorial service will be celebrated on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 4 pm at Hayden Bible Fellowship, 9140 N. Reed Road, Hayden. The family suggests memorials be sent to Hospice of North Idaho.
