YCrCb Values For Various Colors (2024)

The following values can be used in CORIO2 products to create specific standard' colors. Generally this data is useful for the keying and background color settings.
The values conform to ITU-R BT.601 & EIA 770.2.

Color Y Value Cr Value Cb Value

White 235 (EB) 128 (80) 128 (80)
Black 16 (10) 128 (80) 128 (80)
Red 81 (51) 240 (F0) 90 (5A)
Green 145 (91) 34 (22) 54 (36)
Blue 41 (29) 110 (6E) 240 (F0)
Yellow 210 (D2) 146 (92) 16 (10)
Cyan 170 (AA) 16 (10) 166 (A6)
Magenta 106 (6A) 222 (DE) 202 (CA)

Note that:
1. The Y value ranges from 16 to 235 (220 levels), with 16 being black.
2. The Cr and Cb values range from 16 to 240 with 128 as the mid-point.
3. The above are for 8-bit values. 10-bit values can be acheived by
multiplying the decimal values by 4.
4. The values in brackets are in hexadecimal.

FAQs

YCrCb Values For Various Colors? ›

YCrCb or YCbCr

The YCrCb stands for Luminance (sometimes you can see Y' as luma), Red-difference and Blue-difference chroma components. The YCrCb ranges are: 0 > Y > 255. 0 > Cr > 255.

What is the color range of YCrCb? ›

YCrCb or YCbCr

The YCrCb stands for Luminance (sometimes you can see Y' as luma), Red-difference and Blue-difference chroma components. The YCrCb ranges are: 0 > Y > 255. 0 > Cr > 255.

What are the color channels in YCbCr? ›

YCbCr, Y′CbCr, or Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr, also written as YCBCR or Y′CBCR, is a family of color spaces used as a part of the color image pipeline in video and digital photography systems. Y′ is the luma component and CB and CR are the blue-difference and red-difference chroma components.

What is the color model of YCbCr? ›

YCbCr. The YCbCr color space is widely used for digital video. In this format, luminance information is stored as a single component (Y) and chrominance information is stored as two color-difference components (Cb and Cr).

What is the YCbCr color encoding system? ›

The YCbCr and RGB color spaces have distinct applications. While RGB represents color through combinations of red, green, and blue light, YCbCr represents color in terms of one luma component (Y) and two chroma components (Cb and Cr).

What is better YCbCr or RGB high? ›

Optimizing Video Output

Users should select either YCbCr color space or RGB High to match their television's specification. RGB High is often preferred for its fidelity, especially when used with TVs that handle a full RGB signal well, presenting a picture without alterations in contrast or brightness range.

Should I choose RGB or YCbCr? ›

There's basically no difference between RGB 4:4:4 and YCbCr 4:4:4 IF the latter option supports full range. When it doesn't, you're limited to a color ramp of 16-235 vs 0-255. But, you'll always want to use RGB on computer monitors because it's been the standard since forever.

What are the 4 channels of color? ›

A CMYK image has four channels: cyan, magenta, yellow, and key (black). CMYK is the standard for print, where subtractive coloring is used. A 32-bit CMYK image (the industry standard as of 2005) is made of four 8-bit channels, one for cyan, one for magenta, one for yellow, and one for key color (typically is black).

What are the different color channels? ›

An RGB image has three channels: red, green, and blue. An HSL image has three channels: hue, saturation, and lightness. Although you cannot create or edit an image using the CMYK model, you can still split the image into four channels: cyan, magenta, yellow, and black.

What is YCbCr 422? ›

Full name. Uncompressed YCbCr Video Picture Stream Family (4:2:2) Description. A digital, color-difference component video picture stream in which the two chroma components are sampled at half the rate of luma.

What is the 4 color format? ›

These four colors are Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black- which are known collectively as CMYK. In fact, 4-Color Process printing is frequently referred to as CMYK printing. It is also known as Four Color Printing, 4CP, Full Color Printing, or simply Process Printing.

Is YCbCr 422 better than RGB? ›

YCbCr422 / 420 will have fringing on text on the desktop and in games - it's only suitable for video which is typically recorded in 4:2:0. YCbCr422 / 420 10-bit is worse than RGB 8-bit in every way. Even YCbCr444 will require black level expansion and is worse than RGB, so just use RGB.

What is YCbCr 709? ›

From what I understand YCbCr709 is a native color space for most HD file based codecs, and offers more detail in white and black areas.

What is the best output color format? ›

If your design will end up on digital screens like computer monitors or TVs, you should use RGB. If you need to physically print anything like product labels, brochures, or more, you should use CMYK. Using the wrong format can lead to inaccurate color representations.

How to convert YCbCr to RGB formula? ›

RGB = ycbcr2rgb( YCBCR ) converts the luminance (Y) and chrominance (Cb and Cr) values of a YCbCr image to red, green, and blue values of an RGB image.

What is the difference between YUV and Ycrcb? ›

YUV, YPbPr and YCbCr are all basically same, but just with different scale factors for the signals. YUV signals are used when encoding/decoding analog composite video, YPbPr signals exists at analog component video interface and YCbCr signals are digital numbers.

What is color range RGB vs CMYK? ›

Simply put, CMYK is the color mode intended for printing with ink, such as business card designs and posters. RGB is the color mode intended for digital communication, such as websites and television. The more color added in CMYK mode, the darker the result. The more color added to RGB, the lighter the result.

What is the range of black pixels? ›

For most images, pixel values are integers that range from 0 (black) to 255 (white). The 256 possible gray intensity values are shown below. The range of intensity values from 0 (black) to 255 (white).
