What does it mean when someone becomes a site member on Wix? ›

A Members Area is the ideal tool to make your visitors engage, as it creates a community around your site. People who sign up to your Member's Area get their own account where they can see all their information while getting to know other members.

Give your site members their own personal profile, where they can express who they are to your online community. Members can customize their profile to show a description they wrote about themselves, images, videos and more.

Some Wix apps include public pages where members can see each other's activity. For example, if you've added a social app like Wix Blog, every member gets a Profile page where they can share details about themselves and get to know other members.

The difference can be explained like this: Contacts: Your contact list contains anyone who interacted with your business (e.g. wrote you an email, booked a session, or chatted with you). Members: These people may have joined your site on a Wix member app, or signed up on your site.

In a subscription business model, a customer pays a recurring price to access a product or a service for a certain period of time. A membership model gives customers access so they can obtain discounts on products or services. Even though it is common to hear these two terms treated as synonyms, they are not.

After your site has been published, it automatically appears online and can be seen by anyone entering your free site URL (accountname.wixsite.com/site-name) or domain name.

How do people find me on Wix? ›

From the Members Page, your members can find each other by typing a person's first or last name in the search bar. Currently, it is not possible to search for members using other information like their title, company name or email address.

The Wix Answers modules allow you to watch, create, update, search, and delete tickets, ticket replies, and articles in your Wix Answers account. In order to use Wix Answers with Make, it is necessary to have a Wix Answers account.

Enabling members chat

Build a community around your site by adding members chat. Members chat is an additional Wix Chat feature that allows your logged-in site members to chat with each other in addition to chatting with you (the business). Once enabled, your members can see private chats as well as create group chats.

It's available in the Wix AppMarket, and you can add it to your site for free. Once installed, you can manage all aspects of your Wix membership business through your website's backend dashboard.

Go to Site Members in your site's dashboard. Click the More Actions icon next to the relevant member. Click Edit Roles. Select the checkbox next to the role(s) you want to assign.
